In The Ring Two, Rachel must investigate the background of Samara Morgan, her son's mother, after he gets sick with a mysterious ailment.In The Ring, Rachel Keller who is an investigative journalist is contacted by her sister Ruth to look into the mysterious circumstances behind her niece Katie's death. Rachel learns from her that Katie was healthy and she discovered Katie's body disfigured inside the closet. Katie's family members tell Rachel the story of the cursed videotape myth and Katie's best friend Becca being confined for witnessing Katie dying. Katie's boyfriend as well as her two acquaintances died in an accident the same night , at 10 at night. Rachel travels to Shelter Mountain Inn, where she is in Cabin 12. The cabin in question is one where Katie as well as her fellow guests saw the tape that was cursed. Rachel is able to locate the tape, and then watches it then the phone rings. Rachel discovered that Anna had an adopted son named Samara who could cause disturbing images into the bodies and minds of animals, people, and other objects. Rachel encounters Anna's widower Richard, but he makes her go when she begins to inquire about Samara.
